Patient Airlifted After Rescue From Willington Woods

Emergency personnel rescued a seriously injured patient from a wooded area near the railroad tracks off Route 32 in Willington, Connecticut, on September 7.
Willington Fire Department No. 1 and Willington Hill Fire Department responded around 11:05 a.m., along with Connecticut State Police, Windham Hospital paramedics and LIFE STAR.
Firefighters located the patient in dense woods and used a local resident's utility terrain vehicle to assist with removal. The patient was transferred to awaiting medical personnel and later flown by LIFE STAR to a Hartford-area hospital.
State Police confirmed the patient suffered serious injuries but did not release details on the circumstances. The incident was not classified as a motor vehicle crash.
