Wallingford Fire Department Remembered 9/11

Wallingford, CT — September 11 — The Town of Wallingford Fire Department commemorated the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks by honoring the individuals who lost their lives and the emergency service workers who stepped forward to help.

This date holds special significance for firefighters and emergency responders throughout the nation.

The attacks resulted in the loss of 2,977 lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. In the early hours, nearly 1,000 firefighters and approximately 2,000 police officers responded to the World Trade Center, with over 100 ambulances also arriving to assist.

Wallingford had already observed September 11 in the months following the attacks.

According to town records, the Wallingford Fire Department, Police Department, and Hunter's Ambulance participated in a community remembrance event on September 30, 2001. Firefighters, police officers, Civil Defense personnel, and other community members also helped collect donations for the families of public safety personnel who were affected.

The department, located at 75 Masonic Avenue, continues to serve the community by providing fire protection, emergency medical services, technical rescue operations, and hazardous material response.

The 25th anniversary offered Wallingford firefighters and the community another chance to remember those who were lost and to acknowledge the ongoing dedication of emergency personnel.
