Woodbridge Firefighters Gathered to Remember September 11

Woodbridge, CT — September 11 — The Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department held a 25th Anniversary of 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the firehouse located at 100 Center Road.This event brought together firefighters, emergency service personnel, and members of the community to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The ceremony offered a moment to pause, reflect, and pay tribute to the victims, their families, and the first responders who acted during the attacks.

Firefighters in uniform gathered outside the station while an American flag was displayed on the department’s apparatus.

The remembrance also linked the event to Woodbridge’s longstanding tradition of honoring September 11.

The department’s memorial, which was dedicated in 2011, features a piece of structural steel recovered from the World Trade Center.This memorial remains permanently displayed outside the firehouse as a place of ongoing remembrance.

The Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department continues to serve the community as a 24-hour first-response agency, offering fire suppression, rescue, EMT-level medical response, and hazardous-material services.

The 2026 ceremony was part of a series of events held throughout Connecticut to commemorate 25 years since the attacks.

The Woodbridge memorial service was set for 8:45 a.m.on September 11 at the firehouse.

The ceremony ended with the department and community once again observing the enduring message of September 11 remembrance: We will never forget.
