The Rahway Fire Department (Union County) has in service this special operations unit (RA-25) which they use primarily for water rescue. It is a 1992 P.L. Custom Medallion body that had been an ambulance. It was remounted unto a 2003 Ford F-450 chassis. Features and equipment include a misting fan, collapsible tent, “noodles” to wrap around a patient, life jackets, throw ropes, cold water rescue suits, plastic helmets, water rescue ice picks, inflatable raft, life rings, rescue tubes, PFD’s, dry suits, life preservers, underwater victim retriever and paddles.
