Training Night in Emerson: Cadets and Drivers Build Core Fireground Skills During Monthly Drill in Bergen County

Emerson, NJ - Emerson Volunteer Fire Department Company 1 members have conducted their monthly drill on 20 August in Bergen County, focusing on fundamental fireground skills and coordinated hose line operations under varying pressure conditions.


Crews have worked on hose line advancement techniques, practicing smooth deployment, controlled movement, and effective line management to simulate real structure fire conditions. A driver in training has also participated in pump operations, focusing on pressure regulation and maintaining steady water supply during evolving drill scenarios.


A key highlight of the drill has been the involvement of cadet members, who have completed their first structured training session. Cadets have assisted with hose advancement, supported nozzle operations, and gained hands-on exposure to essential fireground tasks under supervision, marking an important step in their development.


The department has continued to emphasize recruitment and training, encouraging community members interested in service to attend Monday night sessions at 7:30 PM to learn more about joining Emerson’s volunteer fire service.
