FOSTER, RI — August 13 — The Foster Center Volunteer Fire Company honored Firefighter Lucas Alsfeld as its August Member of the Month, celebrating his first year of volunteer service and his ongoing growth in the fire service.

Alsfeld decided to join the company after a firefighter from a nearby department encouraged him to become a volunteer.

During his first year, he participated in the Rhode Island Fire Academy through the company, which was a key part of his training.

The department's profile noted that Alsfeld was committed to serving the Foster community and expanding his understanding of the fire service.

In addition, he worked as a substitute teacher, which gave him valuable experience in communication and leadership that he applied to his volunteer duties.

In his free time, Alsfeld enjoyed activities such as fishing, hiking, working out, and spending time with friends.

He also comes from a large family in the Foster area.

The Foster Center Volunteer Fire Company regularly provides training for its members and supports firefighters who are working towards certification through the Rhode Island Fire Academy. The company’s volunteer program includes active firefighters, associate members, and junior members, reflecting the various roles needed to keep a volunteer fire organization running smoothly.
