CENTRAL SQUARE, NY — August 27 — Members of the Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Department participated in a practical training session.Twelve firefighters took turns working at various stations that simulated real fireground situations.The training emphasized key skills such as forcible entry, ground ladder use, hose advancement, and hydrant operations.

During the session, firefighters practiced entering structures through different entry points, using and climbing ground ladders, and moving and managing hose lines.

They also reviewed the procedures for operating hydrants and establishing a consistent water supply for fire suppression efforts.

This training covered several topics outlined in the New York State firefighter training program.

The state's in-service curriculum includes practice with ground ladders, hose handling, and forcible entry.It also involves learning how to connect hoses to hydrants and operate them effectively.

Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Department serves the communities in the Central Square area and maintains a team of trained firefighters and EMTs. The session allowed the firefighters to revisit essential skills, enhance teamwork, and stay ready for emergency situations.
