HUGHSONVILLE, NY — August 12, 2026 — After completing a three-week Bootcamp fireman I program, junior fireman Matthew Von Burg has completed over 120 hours of classroom and practical firefighting training.

Von Burg received training in both fundamental outside and interior firefighting techniques during the rigorous curriculum. He obtained certificates in both Interior Firefighting Operations and Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations.

Von Burg's efforts and dedication throughout the program were acknowledged by the chief staff of the Hughsonville Fire Department. According to the department, the achievement marks a significant turning point in his career as a firefighter.

In order to eventually become an inside fireman within the company, Von Burg will complete his training. Additional operational training and ongoing improvement are made possible by the Firefighter I program.

The department acknowledged Von Burg's commitment to honing his firefighting abilities and congratulated him for finishing the challenging training.
