John King Honored for More Than 15 Years With Hughsonville Fire Company

HUGHSONVILLE, NY — August 11, 2026 — John King, a longstanding member of the Hughsonville Fire Company, changed his membership status from active fireman to life inactive during the company's August meeting as he was ready to leave the nearby region.


King has been with the Hughsonville Fire Company for more than 15 years, having started on June 10, 2004. He had a number of operational and leadership roles with the organization, including captain, lieutenant, fireman, and most recently, safety officer.


On May 6, 2025, King was recognized for his years of service to the Hughsonville Fire Company by becoming a life member. In addition, he received the 2020 Firefighter of the Year award, which recognizes members for their commitment and services to the organization.


From May 3, 2011, to February 8, 2017, King was a social member. On February 9, 2017, he resumed his position as an active fireman.


Hughsonville firemen said they will miss having King around the firehouse and his expertise on the fireground when he leaves the region.


The business wished King luck and happiness in the next phase of his life and thanked him for his years of service.
