WALTON, NY — August 20, 2026 —  A 100-year-old Model T that has a long history with the department was brought by Franklin Fire & Rescue to participate in the Delaware County Fair parade.

The Franklin Fire Department claims that the historic car has always lived there. Its participation in the parade gave it a chance to participate in a community event while showcasing a portion of the department's history.

The Model T is a symbol of a bygone period in the fire service, when units relied on vehicles and equipment very different from those employed by modern firemen. For Franklin Fire & Rescue, keeping the vehicle connected to the department provides a link between its past and present members. The historic apparatus remains a recognizable part of the department's history and was on display for those attending the Delaware County Fair parade.

The Delaware County Fair is held in Walton, and the fair continues to feature a fire and heroes parade as part of its annual schedule.
