Herkimer Fire Officers Completed New York State Supervisors Training

HERKIMER, NY — August 7 — Deputy Chief Timothy Hartman and Lieutenant Robert Davenport from Herkimer Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2484 have successfully completed the New York State First Line Supervisors Training Program (FLSTP) at the New York City Fire Department Fire Academy.


The program covered topics such as company-level supervision, incident management, leadership, and decision-making during fire operations.

In New York State, it is mandatory for career fire officers who are promoted to first-line supervisory roles to attend FLSTP, which also includes the requirements for obtaining New York State Fire Officer I certification.


The FDNY program has trained first-line fire supervisors from various departments throughout New York State.

The curriculum includes fire-control procedures, supervisory techniques, incident response tactics and strategies, hazardous materials handling, and leadership and management skills.


Hartman and Davenport participated in the training along with officers from other departments, enhancing their supervisory knowledge with their field experience.

This training contributed to the ongoing professional growth of the Herkimer fire department.
