LONG LAKE, NY — August 18 — The Long Lake Fire Department conducted ladder operations training at Long Lake Central School, bringing together firefighters and emergency-service personnel for hands-on practice with aerial ladder operations. The training included the Long Lake Rescue Squad, Tupper Lake Fire Department, and Newcomb Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

The exercise provided an opportunity to practice ladder placement, coordination and safe operations around a school building. Training at local facilities can help crews become familiar with access points and working conditions before an actual emergency occurs.

Long Lake Fire Department operates from 111 S. Hill Road and maintains a year-round training program that includes ladder use, pump operations and ice-water rescue. The department also works with neighboring emergency-service agencies, supporting regional readiness across the Adirondack communities.

The August 18 drill focused on maintaining practical skills and interagency coordination while using Long Lake Central School as a realistic training environment.
