Somers, CT - Somers Fire Department personnel participated in a joint training session on August 31, 2026, focused on familiarization with mutual aid aerial apparatus alongside neighboring departments.

The drill brought together units from Hazardville Fire District Truck 31, West Stafford Fire Department Tower 144, and Tolland Fire Department Truck 240, providing crews the opportunity to review each apparatus’ capabilities, equipment layout, and operational features.

The training emphasized how these aerial resources can be effectively integrated into fireground operations, particularly in incidents requiring elevated master streams, roof access, and additional ground ladder support.

With Somers Fire Department not operating its own aerial aparatus, mutual aid platforms and ladders remain a critical component of structural fire response within the district.

On August 31 in Tolland County, the session reinforced interoperability and ensured that personel understand how to best request, position, and utilize these specialized units during emergency operations.

Somers Fire Department extends appreciation to Hazardville, West Stafford, and Tolland Fire Departments for their continued partnership, as well as for their commitment to joint training that enhances regional readiness and strengthens working relationships on the fireground.
