LITTLE FALLS, NY — August 31, 2026 — Members of City of Little Falls Firefighter Union Local 2966 teamed up with firefighters from the Herkimer and Ilion fire departments to take part in a game with the Mohawk Valley Challengers.

The event brought firefighters from three area departments together for an opportunity to support the Challengers and take part in a community activity outside of their regular fire-service duties.

The Mohawk Valley Challengers is a special-needs flag football and cheerleading organization that provides children and young adults with disabilities an opportunity to participate in organized sports. The program includes participants from communities throughout the Mohawk Valley. Local 2966 said the event was a chance for members to come together while supporting an organization that provides an inclusive sports experience for area families. The union also expressed pride in seeing its members represent their departments both on and off duty.
