Hawleyville, CT - The Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company #1 conducted a joint training evolution alongside the Dodgingtown Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 Inc., focusing on essential water supply and handline operations.

Crews worked through drafting scenarios, establishing portable ponds, and flowing water through coordinated handline evolutions. The training emphasized efficient water movement, proper pump operations, and strong cordination between companies—key elements during mutual aid responses. Newer members gained hands-on experience advancing and operating handlines, while experinced firefighters reinforced the skills that are critical on the fireground.

Joint training continues to strengthen interoperability, ensuring both departments can operate seamlessly at incidents requiring a sustained water supply and coordinated fire attack.

On August 10, the evolution highlighted the importance of teamwork and preparedness, with both companies demonstrating a continued commitment to operational readiness and community protection.

The department also recognized Lieutenant Miles Ball for successfully completing driver/operator qualifications on the engine, marking a significant achievement and strengthening the company’s capabilities.
