NY — August 30, 2026 — On Sunday, volunteers from the Homer Fire Department assisted in staffing the House of Hazards and the fire safety education section at the Great New York State Fair.

The C&S Companies Science & Industry Building's fire-prevention education program includes the House of Hazards. The interactive exhibit is intended to demonstrate common fire hazards to both adults and children, as well as to offer useful information on preventing fires and safely escaping them. The House of Hazards is a hands-on fire safety experience, according to the New York State Fair.

According to the official agenda for the fair, presentations from the Fire Prevention Education Center—Fire Safety Show took place in the Science & Industry Building on Sunday, August 30. The 2026 Great New York State Fair will take place at fairgrounds in Syracuse from August 26 to September 7.
