Lansing Firefighters Handle 132 Calls During Busy July

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

In July 2026, the Lansing Fire Department Inc. responded to 132 service requests, with emergency medical services making up over half of the department's activities.

EMS is the largest category for the month, with 68 answers, according to the department's July call report. In addition, Lansing firefighters responded to seven motor vehicle accidents, three building fires, three vehicle fires, one brush fire, five hazardous condition calls, twenty service calls, five good-intent calls, and twenty automated alarms.

The listed categories precisely match the 132 calls that the department receives each month. For fire-service personnel, the numbers show how much of a department's workload takes place outside traditional structure fires. Of the 132 July responses, 68 were EMS calls, while fire alarms, service calls, hazardous conditions, vehicle incidents and other non-structure-fire assignments made up much of the remaining workload.
