HIGHLAND, NY — August 5, 2026 — On Wednesday nite, the Highland Rotary Club gave the department a gift to assist buy new firefighter safety equipment, providing members of the Highland Fire District with some community support.

According to the department, the funds will be utilized to purchase the equipment required to outfit new standpipe bags, providing firemen with an additional means of enhancing their operational preparedness in buildings with standpipe systems.

Highland Rotary's annual First Responders Golf Tournament, which took place on May 29, 2026, helped raise the gift. The competition was hosted on May 29 as a fundraiser for area first responders, according to Rotary's event calendar. Supporting regional emergency services has been an ongoing aspect of the event thanks to Highland Rotary. According to the club's website, the Town of Lloyd Police and the Highland Fire District have benefited from its first responder golf excursion, which raised $25,000 to help buy safety gear.

According to information released by the Rotary club, golfers, sponsors, and members of the community sponsored the 2026 tournament, which was a part of the club's continuous efforts to raise money for first responders.
