LOUDONVILLE, NY — August 18, 2026 — The Shaker Road-Loudonville Fire Department's most recent rescue training exercise, which focused on fundamental water rescue methods and individual water safety, took place on Tuesday.

Firefighters had the chance to practice a number of shore-based water rescue techniques during the training, which was a routine part of the department's rescue drill calendar.

Members reviewed the safety procedures required when working near moving or open water while practicing various rescue tactics. According to the department, the objective was to keep firemen knowledgeable about rescue techniques and ready to act when those abilities are required in a real emergency.
