RUMSON, NJ — August 6, 2026 —After completing Firefighter I and Firefighter II training at the Monmouth County Fire Academy, Firefighter Jack Arhanic is being congratulated by the Rumson Fire Company.

Arhanic finished an eight-week day program and accrued over 250 hours of training, according to the fire department. In order to train firemen for structure fire operations and other emergency missions, the school comprised both academic and practical work.

Firefighter health and safety, personal protective equipment, fire behavior, building design, SCBA, forced entry, ladders, hose operations, ventilation, and incident leadership are all covered in the Monmouth County Fire Academy's 2026 Firefighter I and II program.

For a new firefighter, completing Firefighter I and II represents a major training step. The curriculum combines classroom instruction with practical exercises designed to develop the skills needed to operate safely and effectively on the fireground.

The academy's 2026 schedule shows that students move through a series of required modules and practical evaluations before completing the program.

Arhanic's accomplishment also continues a family connection to the fire service. The Rumson Fire Company said he follows his father, Paul Arhanic, who graduated from the same academy in 2023. His uncle, Alex, is currently a cadet firefighter and is expected to follow the same path, according to the department announcement.

Public records also show Jack Arhanic has long been involved in community and leadership activities. In 2021, he was a student at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology and was selected as one of five cadets to serve as a color guard at the christening of the submarine USS New Jersey. Arhanic now returns to the Rumson Fire Company with his formal recruit training completed and another generation of the Arhanic family moving into the fire service.
