RAWLINSVILLE, PA — For Firefighter/EMT JJ King, serving with the Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company is an opportunity to give back to his community while being part of something larger than himself. King has served with Rawlinsville for 10 years and values working alongside members who continually strive to improve and support one another. He considers the teamwork and dependability among members one of the most rewarding aspects of serving the community.

One incident that has remained with King involved a horse-and-buggy accident involving a family with children the same age as his own. King accompanied one of the patients, who was the same age as his daughter, to the hospital. He said the experience gave him a new perspective and greater appreciation for his family.

Outside the firehouse, King is the owner and project director of JJ Builders and Lancaster Barndos. He also volunteers for shifts at a local EMS station when possible. King and his wife have two sons and a daughter and enjoy spending time together as a family.

In his free time, King enjoys rollerblading to his shop in the mornings and riding his horse along local trails near the river.

After a decade with Rawlinsville, King continues to view fire service as a commitment to protecting neighbors, supporting fellow members and being available when the community needs assistance.
