SECAUCUS, NJ — August 6, 2026 — The Secaucus Fire Department hailed a major training milestone on Tuesday, with the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety designating three new firehouses as Tier 2 Academy Facilities.

According to the department, Rescue Company No. 1/Engine Company No. 2, Chicora Park Engine Company No. 3, and Tower Company No. 2 have been designated Tier 2 Academy Facilities.

The three companies join Washington Hook & Ladder Company No. 1 and Engine Company No. 1, which the agency says were designated in the late 1990s. With the latest certifications, the department now recognizes all five Secaucus firehouses as Tier 2 Academy Facilities.

A Tier 2 designation allows an approved firehouse to serve as a location for qualifying firefighter training, according to the department. For a busy volunteer fire department, bringing more training opportunities closer to home can reduce travel requirements and make it easier for members to participate in continuing education.

The New Jersey Division of Fire Safety oversees firefighter training and certification programs throughout the state and provides resources for New Jersey fire training academies and local course delivery.

The department credited Lieutenants Donald and Raymond Cieciuch with coordinating the designation process. Chief Lawrence Marciano and Battalion Chief Jason Leppin were also recognized for their leadership and support in preparing the facilities for inspection.
