Cohansey River, NJ — August 19 — Lower Alloways Creek Fire & Rescue and the Greenwich Fire Department carried out joint marine operations training on the Cohansey River on August 19.This exercise gave the crews a chance to work together in a water-based environment.

The training was centered around marine response procedures, allowing firefighters from both departments to use their boats and equipment in a controlled situation.

It also offered the crews a chance to get to know each other’s processes before collaborating on a real water emergency.

The Greenwich Fire Department serves the Cumberland County community and operates close to the Cohansey River.

Meanwhile, Lower Alloways Creek Fire & Rescue has marine response capabilities in Salem County.

The Cohansey River was classified by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection as a tidal waterway part of the Delaware Bay system.

This makes marine response and coordination essential for agencies working in the area.
