This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Elizabeth, N.J. — August 5 — Retired Captain Donald McGuire passed away, according to the Elizabeth Fire Officers Association, IAFF Local 2040. After more than 32 years of service, McGuire resigned from the Elizabeth Fire Department on October 1, 2002, having joined on July 14, 1969. He served the City of Elizabeth during his last assignment with Engine 8, Tour 4. On August 10, a burial and graveside service were planned for Wrightstown's Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Throughout his career, McGuire served the city's fire department for more than thirty years. His family and fellow firemen received condolences from the association. Since the notification was about a retired member and had nothing to do with an emergency reaction, no mutual-aid departments were found.
