This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Berkeley Heights, N.J. — August 19 — Moving massive amounts of water during fires involving large buildings or several structures was the topic of a drill conducted by the Berkeley Heights Fire Department. As the attack engine, Engine 4 ran water through a Blitz Fire monitor and a 1,500-GPM monitor. 200 feet of five-inch hose were laid from a hydrant by Engine 1, which served as the supply engine. Additionally, members experienced setting up a high-volume water supply using a portable manifold.

While engineers worked on pump operations, firefighters received training using the Blitz Fire monitor. The exercise gave workers practical experience with tools and water delivery procedures that they could utilize in more serious situations. Members were able to keep the skills necessary to set up water supply and assist with efficient fire control operations thanks to regular training.
