Suffolk, NY - Members of the Center Moriches Fire Department took part in intensive hands-on live fire training at the Suffolk County Fire Academy, working alongside firefighters from the Mastic Beach Fire Department.

The realistic training exercises provided firefighters with the opportunity to operate in challenging fireground scenarios while strengthening teamwork, communication, coordination, and decision-making skills. Such practical evolutions are an important part of ensuring that emergency crews remain confident and prepared when faced with real-world incidents.

On August 20, 2026, firefighters from both departments came together at the Suffolk County Fire Academy in Suffolk County for an evening of multi-agency training, sharing knowledge and experience while working as a unified team.

Regular joint training sessions help fire departments build stronger working relationships and improve their ability to coordinate effectively during emergencies. These exercises ultimately contribute to safer and more efficient responses when communities need assistance.
