Albertson, N.Y. — August 10 — The Albertson Fire Company is mourning the loss of longtime member and leader Walter Frame, whose decades of service included leadership positions at the company, county and state levels.
Frame served the Albertson Fire Company for 38 years and held numerous leadership positions during his career. The company's official history lists him as president from 1996 through 1998.
His service extended well beyond the Albertson firehouse. Frame served as president of the Nassau County Firefighters Association in 2015, according to the association's official list of past presidents.
He also served as a trustee of the FASNY Firefighter's Home, where he was re-elected to a second five-year term in 2025. Recent reporting described him as a 38-year Albertson firefighter and noted his leadership roles with the Albertson Fire Company, Nassau County Firefighters Association and North Shore Fire Council.
Frame is still listed in FASNY's records as a trustee of the Firefighter's Home in Nassau County.
As a Purple Heart recipient and Vietnam veteran, Frame was also honored by the Albertson Fire Company, which stated that his dedication to service carried over into the fire service. The company's announcement contained such details.
The agency claims that Frame also held senior roles with the North Shore Fire Council and was a trustee. He was a member of the larger volunteer fire service group in New York State and Nassau County.
In 2025, Frame spoke about his continued work with the FASNY Firefighter's Home, saying he viewed his service as a way to give back to the community and continue his family's firefighting legacy. He noted that his great-great-grandfather was one of the founders of the Albertson Fire Company and its first president.
Firematic services were scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday, August 13, during visitation at Weigand's Funeral Home in Williston Park, according to the Albertson Fire Company.
A funeral Mass was scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, August 14, at St. Aidan's Church in Williston Park, followed by burial at Calverton National Cemetery.
