Essex, CT. — August 12 — Essex Fire Engine Co. #1 provided practical instruction centered on a recently acquired FAST Board. During rescue operations, members rehearsed how to pack and move a downed fireman. Moving a firefighter up stairs and through windows onto ladders was one of the training evolutions. During firefighter rescue missions, the training concentrated on the use of equipment, coordination, communication, and controlled movement.

Before utilizing the FAST Board in an emergency, participants had the chance to familiarize themselves with it during the session. In order to stay prepared for firefighter rescue, fire suppression, and other community emergency calls, Essex Fire Engine Co. #1 continues to receive regular training.
