Agawam Fire Department Mourned Randy Cushing

Agawam, MA. — July 31 — Randy Cushing, a retired firefighter paramedic who joined the organization in 1977, was mourned by the Agawam Fire organization. Cushing helped lay the groundwork for the community EMS system and became the first firefighter paramedic in Agawam. Throughout his tenure, he helped Western Massachusetts EMS agencies with service planning, system development, and licensing.


His efforts contributed to the expansion of emergency medical services that are still provided to towns in the area. Cushing's leadership, expertise, and dedication to patients and other responders were acknowledged. He had a profound impact on the emergency services community as well as Agawam's fire and EMS operations.
