Brigantine Fire & EMS Safely Rescues Ducklings from Storm Drain

Brigantine, NJ - The Brigantine Fire and EMS Department responded to an animal rescue assignment on the 400 block of 18th Street South, where a group of ducklings had fallen into a storm drain.


Upon arrival, crews located a distressed mother duck near the drain, with nine ducklings trapped below the grate. Firefighters quickly assessed the situation and carefully removed the storm drain cover to gain access.


All nine ducklings were safely retrieved and reunited with their mother. The grate was then properly secured, and units returned to service. The incident highlights the department’s commitment to protecting all members of the community—both large and small
