Vincentown, N.J. — July 31 — In 1973, Hampton Lakes Volunteer Fire Company added a new Ford C-chassis TASC fire engine to their arsenal. The device, designated Engine 1722, had a 1,000-gallon water tank and a 1,000-gallon high-pressure pump every minute. As Hampton Lakes updated its fire safety apparatus, it took the place of the company's 1936 Diamond-Persch engine.

Trautwein sold the new engine, which was manufactured in Woodbridge, New Jersey. During that time, fire departments in the area made extensive use of TASC engines. Before being sold to a Virginia fire department, Engine 1722 stayed with Hampton Lakes until the late 1980s. The acquisition improved the department's ability to respond.
