Olean, N.Y. — August 7 — The City of Olean Fire Department seeks out ongoing instruction in man-in-machine rescue and rapid intervention team operations. Finding and retrieving an injured or missing fireman during an emergency was the main focus of RIT training. Additionally, recruits rehearsed rescue methods for situations involving both people and equipment. The daily routine continued to include physical training. Recruits ran fifteen miles and participated in many strength training sessions throughout the week.

The combination training strengthened teamwork, physical fitness, and rescue techniques. Training equipped recruits for emergency situations that call for safe decision-making, regulated movement, and prolonged physical exertion during technical rescue and fireground disasters.
