Broadalbin-Kennyetto Firefighters Train on Emergency Escape

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Under the direction of Lieutenants Grant Rauch and Dan Sowle, members of the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company performed firefighter emergency escape training at the firehouse on July 20.

Firefighter escape situations, such as the 2005 "Black Sunday" fire in the Bronx, in which six FDNY firefighters leaped from a seven-story building, were covered in class at the start of the session. Four firefighters suffered severe injuries, and two firefighters lost their lives.

In addition to situational awareness, fire development, and firefighter escape techniques, members studied relevant rules, such as 12 NYCRR Section 800.7.
