On July 4, the Riverhead Fire Department joined the community in commemorating America's 250th anniversary and Independence Day.

Firefighters urged everyone to celebrate responsibly and wished locals a safe and joyous holiday. Department representatives asked locals to leave fireworks displays to qualified experts and cautioned the public to exercise caution when grilling or using open flames.
