Northport Fire Boat Assists at Centerport Harbor Dock Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Firefighters responded to a floating dock fire in Centerport Harbor, New York, on July 5, 2026, prompting a marine mutual-aid response from the Northport Volunteer Fire Department.

The Centerport Fire Department was the primary responding department. As crews worked the waterfront incident, Northport Volunteer Fire Department Fire Boat 2926 and its crew responded into the harbor to assist with suppression and help bring the fire under control.

Marine companies worked alongside Centerport firefighters until the dock fire was extinguished and the immediate hazards were addressed. No additional fire departments were identified in the available incident information.

The response highlighted the value of maintaining marine firefighting capability in communities surrounding Huntington’s harbors, where access from land can be limited and mutual-aid fire boats can provide an additional attack platform during waterfront incidents.
