On July 19, members of the Junior Company of the Miller Place Fire Department took part in Stop the Bleed training.
In order to train junior members how to identify and manage life-threatening bleeding before emergency medical personnel arrive, Port Jefferson EMS Chief Presta gave a practical class. Participants learnt the value of acting promptly in medical situations and practiced crucial bleeding control procedures.
Chief Presta's training and assistance in preparing the upcoming generation of emergency responders were appreciated by department leaders.
