This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At around 4 p.m. on July 12, the Mastic Fire Department responded to a water main break at the intersection of Kilroy Avenue and North Titmus Drive.

When Captain Tarren Kearns and Assistant Chief Rudy Sunderman arrived, they saw that water was running off the road, creating floods and damage. Firefighters asked local highway staff and the water authority to come. Together, the crews turned off the damaged water main and looked for indications of flooding in the surrounding residences.

Before arriving to a car accident later in the day, firefighters stayed on the scene for around two hours.
