Massapequa, N.Y. — July 13 — Chief of Department Zimmerman oversaw a swearing-in ceremony for three new members of the Massapequa Fire Department, located at 1 Brooklyn Ave. While one recruit joined the agency after serving as a captain with the Floral Park Fire agency, two others carried on family traditions of volunteering.

The enhancements improved the department's capacity to respond to neighborhood emergencies and bolstered its volunteer ranks. Additionally, department representatives urged locals to think about volunteering, pointing out that while members receive thorough training to prepare them for fire, rescue, and emergency service duties, no prior firefighting experience is necessary.
