Freeport, N.Y. — July 4 — During the busy Fourth of July weekend, the Freeport Fire Department, located at 15 Broadway, advised locals to enjoy Independence Day in a safe manner. The public was urged by department officials to abide by local pyrotechnics laws, keep grills and other outdoor cooking equipment away from buildings, drink plenty of water in hot weather, and keep an eye out for possible fire hazards.

Additionally, firefighters advised locals to dial 911 right away in the event of an emergency. Firefighters and other emergency personnel were prepared to react to service requests even though many people of the community celebrated the holiday. The department's continued dedication to community safety, fire prevention, and public education was reflected in the yearly safety message.
