Five Ducklings Safely Reunited With Mother in East Islip

On June 26, at around 9:24 a.m., the East Islip Fire Department responded to a police assistance request on Greenwood Avenue after ducklings got stuck in a storm drain.
Firefighters initially tried to save the ducklings with a net under Assistant Chief Heslin's supervision. When that didn't work, members went into the storm drain and manually removed all five ducklings safely.
Before firefighters removed the area, the ducklings were successfully reunited with their mother.
