Swanton, VT. — July 4 — The Swanton Fire Department encouraged locals to enjoy Independence Day safely while joining the community in commemorating the occasion. The department encouraged people to adhere to local laws and basic fire safety procedures as pyrotechnics and outdoor events spread throughout the area. National fire officials continue to advise avoiding combustible items and dry plants as well as attending professional fireworks displays whenever feasible.

The event also honored the ongoing dedication of firemen, emergency medical services, and other first responders who stayed on duty to safeguard their communities and enable safe Fourth of July celebrations throughout northwest Vermont.
