Walton, N.Y. — July 4 — The Department Walton Fire Department, 59 West St., recognized Independence Day as the United States celebrated the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding. The historic milestone commemorated the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and was observed through community events across the country. As residents gathered for parades, ceremonies, and fireworks, firefighters remained ready to respond to emergencies while promoting holiday fire safety.


The observance also highlighted the tradition of volunteer service shared by fire departments nationwide. Department officials encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly, follow local fireworks safety guidelines, and recognize the dedication of first responders serving throughout the Independence Day holiday.
