Coraopolis, Pa. — June 15 — Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company Station 197 hosted a water shuttle training exercise by Department Robinson Twp. VFC #1, Station 244, 4596 Hayes Ave. In order to enable continuous firefighting operations in situations when hydrants are not available, firefighters trained using Tanker 244, erecting portable drop tanks, and drafting water.

The exercise improved driver and pump operator skills and strengthened coordination between tanker and engine crews. In order to provide a consistent water supply during protracted events, water shuttle operations are still a crucial component of rural firefighting. The training increased operational readiness, teamwork, and response capacity for future emergency calls.
