Sturgeon, PA. — June 15 — Through practical drills, members of the Sturgeon Volunteer Fire Department strengthened their fire attack capabilities after completing hands-on training with recently acquired HEN nozzles. Before utilizing the equipment on emergency situations, firefighters tested stream location, nozzle control, and synchronized suppression tactics. In addition to strengthening teamwork on the fireground, the training focused on efficient water application and firefighter safety.

The department, which is located at 526 Main St., kept spending money on new equipment and training to increase operational readiness. Frequent drills made sure that everyone in the Sturgeon community was ready to react to structural fires and other catastrophes in a safe and efficient manner.
