Union Springs Firefighters Earned Surface Water Rescue Certification

Union Springs, N.Y. — July 11 — The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control taught a Surface Water Rescue Technician training at Union Springs Fire Department, formerly known as Union Hose & Engine Company. Emergency response and water rescue operations were the main topics of practical training for firefighters from various departments.


Bradley Thurston, Will Pierce, Kevin Long, and Jessi Waldron of Union Springs successfully finished the course and obtained certification as Surface Water Rescue Technicians. The training reaffirmed the department's dedication to continuous professional development and enhanced its technical rescue capabilities. The accreditation equips firemen to handle water-related situations in the area in a safe and efficient manner.
