Altoona Fire Fighters IAFF Local 299 members expressed gratitude to Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern for allowing them to place Engine 312 next to the iconic Big Boy No. 4014 on July 9.
The occasion brought attention to the relationship between Altoona's railroad history and its fire department. Engine 312 is the first-due engine company for the historic Juniata Locomotive Shops and serves the Juniata neighborhood of Altoona.
