After a big tree obstructed Route 839 on July 7, firefighters from the Dayton District Volunteer Fire Company assisted in its reopening.
The fallen tree in the Jordan Hill neighborhood was discovered by firefighters responding to a mutual help call. Firefighters were able to stay on the scene and help clear the road after the initial response was canceled. Crews from PennDOT also responded to the situation.
The time it took to reopen the highway was greatly shortened when a driver from Prentice Trucking in Dayton utilized a log truck to remove the remaining portion of the tree.
