Regional Water Supply Drill Enhances Rural Firefighting Capabilities

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Amherst, NH - Amherst Fire and EMS Tanker 1, staffed by Capt. Bonenfant and Firefighter Nadeau, participated in a multi-agency water supply drill hosted in Wilton. The exercise focused on moving large volumes of water in areas without hydrant infrastructure, simulating sustained fireground operations at a commercial building.

Participating departments coordinated tanker shuttle operations, cycling between two fill sites and a designated dump location to maintain a continuous water supply. The drill emphasized efficiency, coordination, and apparatus placement to maximize water movement.

Such training is essential for maintaining proficiency in rural firefighting operations, and appreciation was extended to the Wilton Fire Department for organizing and hosting the exercise.
