Lebanon, Conn. — June 20 — The Connecticut Fire Chiefs Association named Fire Chief Jay Schall the New London County Fire Chief of the Year, according to the Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department Inc. After joining the department in 2013, Schall rose through the ranks and was appointed chief in 2020.

The agency increased emergency communications, expanded community outreach, and steered operations through the COVID-19 epidemic under his direction. Additionally, he created a radio communications plan for the entire town that improved public safety agencies' capacity to work together. Schall is certified as an advanced NFPA Fire Officer and Fire Instructor and works as a Communications Specialist for Life Star Air Ambulance.
