Mutual Aid Response Assists Wildlife Search in Elevated Tree

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Gorham, NH - Gorham Fire & EMS assisted New Hampshire Fish and Game with a report of possible baby raccoons located in a hollow tree after a nuisance raccoon was captured on the property. The animals were believed to be positioned high within the tree, prompting evaluation of safe access options.

After determining that ground ladders would not provide a safe approach, assistance was requested from Berlin Fire, which responded with a ladder truck to access the elevated area. Crews operated in challenging weather conditions while positioning the apparatus and checking the tree.

While the animals were not located during the operation, the response highlighted strong interagency coordination. Gorham Fire & EMS extended appreciation to New Hampshire Fish and Game and Berlin Fire for their assistance, as well as the continued cooperation made possible through the North Country Fire Mutual Aid District.
